Financial Integrity
Georgia must implement a system of financial accountability that provides meaningful and easily accessible disclosures regarding the quality of the financial management of each school system. In addition to disclosure, the financial integrity system will be designed to incentivize districts to maximize the amount of funding focused into direct instructional purposes.

Opportunity

Georgia’s children deserve educational opportunities and choices. We need to expand educational freedom opportunities to families and their students. We need to transition from educational operating systems to an education opportunity society.

Consequences

We must set objective, measurable goals for the academic and financial health of Georgia’s school districts. Failure to meet these goals must have consequences.

Upgrade our funding formula

We must modernize the funding formula. The outdated funding methodology used today is costly to administer and is not attached to the student. I want to work with the legislature to fix this problem. We need funding that follows the student and simplifies the process.

Standards

Georgia must have strong standards that form the foundation of our curriculum. These standards must be developed by Georgians. The process of developing and reviewing these standards must be transparent and reflect the values and goals of the citizens of our state. We must reject Common Core. Centralization is not a winning strategy in government, business or education. It impedes innovation and customization. Georgia’s children deserve better.
